Marine life in Montserrat includes eagle rays, green turtles, hawksbill turtles, sharks and the elusive wolf eel. This Caribbean isle is encircled by a gently sloping shelf covered in reefs and rocks making the East coast only suitable for very experienced divers. Other divers should head to the West coast where rock boulders are surrounded by sea plumes, sea fans, all manner of corals and brightly coloured reef fish all jostling for space. Large sponges lie further out amongst the rocky ledges along with the bigger fish including turtles.
