Diving in the Maldives is characterised by reef and drift diving alongside hammer heads, reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles, frog fish, manta rays and literally hundreds of other marine animals. Diving is great night or day and best from December to March. The coral reefs in the Maldives are really good and there are shallow reef gardens as well as channels between reefs, however the Maldives is most famous for being literally laden with marine life.

Sponges and corals adorn caves, caverns and pinnacles, whilst manta rays, whale sharks and eagle rays play just away from the reefs. The Ari Atoll is considered the 'must-see' site home to schools of large fish and a host of different shark varieties.
