Situated in the South Pacific, Kiribati includes the largest coral atoll in the world at Christmas island and the South Pacific's largest marine reserve. There is even one raised coral island lying over the equator and 31 other atolls.
Christmas Island continues to be one of the world's last virgin reefs boasting dragon moray, manta, eagle rays, spinner dolphins, turtles and brilliantly vivid corals. Visibility is usually around 35 metres. Diving is also recommended at Tarawa Atoll, Abemama Island – Robert Lewis Stevenson's former home and Butaritari.
