Basse Terre is home to the most dive spots in Guadeloupe, a steep sided spot with most headlands being good places to dive. Other dive sites include Pigeon Island made famous by Jacques Cousteau who created an underwater sanctuary here and also features two ship wrecks; Grand Cul de Sac Marin has several miles of reefs and is a marine park. IIes des Saintes is also considered a spectacular dive site
