Date of Visit: Aug 2010
I dived the blue hole as a newly qualified open water diver. Entering from the shore, we crossed the 70m-wide hole at 5m, following the guide for a visual reference as there is no sight of the bottom or reef as you move across the site. Reaching the saddle, which is about 7m below the surface, we turned right out of the hole to follow the coral wall, which is packed with beautiful corals and fish. We descended to 18m on our way out and slowly ascended on the way back. Jackfish to our left in the blue, but no sight of whale sharks, though they are said to come as close as 5m to the reef. Amazing experience.
Max Depth: 200m
Visibility: 30m
Current: none/very weak
Liked: Pretty corals and abundant fish
Disiked: Not seeing whale sharks
