Diverse diving adventures are available in abundance in Australia with something for everyone. Dive at world renowned locations including Queensland's Great Barrier reef literally a diver's paradise or discover giant kelp forests in Tasmania's temperate waters. With well over 35,000 kilometres of coastline, 4,000 species of fish including the giant gentle whale shark, diving amongst tropical or temperate marine life is a reality in Australia. Cave diving is also catered for in a warren of underwater caves situated on Tasmania's east coast.

Top dive spots worth a special mention include of course the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland's very own World Heritage site. Explore shipwrecks, continental shelves, coral canyons and spectacular coral gardens. Expect to see turtles at play in the coral canyons. Head to Western Australia and the Ningaloo Reef home to some 500 species of fish and over 250 coral varieties including gorgonians and sea whips, marine life at play are whale sharks, turtles, manta rays, dolphins, dugongs, angelfish and more.

Mornington Peninsula residing in Victoria is loaded with sting rays, squid, cuttlefish and urchins plus dolphins, underwater cliffs, ledges, drop-offs, walls and kelp reef beds. There is even a submarine submerged at Port Phillip Heads. Seal colonies, large reefs, caves, shipwrecks, and giant kelp forests are all found in the cooler waters of Tasmania. Follow the East Coast Dive Trail for a spectacular underwater voyage.

Southern Australia offers diving with sea-lions and bottle-nosed dolphins in the serene waters of Baird Bay. Cage diving with great whites is also available in nearby Port Lincoln. Explore World War II shipwrecks full of coral trouts, wobbegong sharks and jewfish in the waters of Darwin Harbour in the Northern Territory. Coral reefs here display soft coral trees and harp corals with a night dive highly recommended. Tropical coloured fish displays are aplenty in Gordon's Bay New South Wales. Meet snapper, kingfish, giant cuttlefish, blue gropers and eastern blue devilfish. Take a nigh dive in tranquil Clovelly Pool or in the more challenging Sharks Point.
